OUR GOALS: We strive to instill in our children good moral character. We begin by teaching the morals and values Jesus would want us to have. Our children learn to love each other, share with each other, take care of each other and value the importance of working with each other to do their best in what they do. We are eager to build self-esteem in our children by offering them stability, love, structure, and the ability to succeed in their school work, projects, and play.

LOCATION & GENERAL INFORMATION: Holy Spirit of Hope Day Care & Learning Center is located in the lower valley at 7728 Alameda Ave. (The corner of Alameda Ave. and Easter, right before Rosedale). The school is located behind the church. All of our staff is CPR and First Aide certified, as well as CDA credentials. We accept CCS and offer military discounts. We are owned and operated by Holy Spirit of Hope Catholic Charismatic Church, with Martha Ortega serving as our director. We use English as our primary language; however our staff is bi-lingual in English and Spanish. Weekly newsletters are available Monday morning or at the beginning of the week and can also be sent via email. Each class room holds no more than state child care guidelines; with each group having their own instructor/caregiver. We are a Christian school and therefore teach Christian values. We pray before each meal, sing Christian songs, say our morning prayer, we do not allow children to bring threatening objects (toy guns or knives), and teach children to love and respect themselves as well as each other. Pastor Robert visits us daily in the morning and afternoon and always brings smiles and happiness to all the children. We also teach patriotism by reciting the Pledge of Allegiance every morning. Parents are asked to bring blankets and pillows for their children every Monday (or the beginning of the week).
HOURS:
We are open Monday - Friday from 6:30am to 6:00pm. We are closed during the following holidays: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving (including the following Friday), and Christmas.
MEALS: A nutritious breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack is provided daily at no extra charge. Children are also welcomed to bring their own lunch from home. We provide a microwave for warming of foods. Should your child require a special diet, we will also accommodate meals to meet their needs. We have a large commercial kitchen, and a separate large dining room where we gather for each of the meals. Children are seated together according to their class, and infants are sat in their own high chair.
SUMMER PROGRAM: Each year we offer an exciting and wonderful summer program. Children will be placed according to age groups (as is during the regular school year) so they can gain full benefits of planned activities and continued developmental skills. Our summer program includes outings, great fun at the day care, and exciting craft projects. The half day program is from 8:30am - 12:00pm, and our full time program is from 8:30am - 6:00pm. Lunch is provided at no extra charge.
RATES: Weekly rates vary by age and needs. Charges are made for each week or in single monthly payments (part-time or full time). Charges are made on a daily basis for drop-in only, and are due that day. Fees (for weekly) are due in advance, being the Friday for the upcoming week or Monday morning for the current week, and on the first of each month for monthly payments. INFANT CARE: (Ages: newborn - 18 months) Our children are given lots of love and nurturing during these young years. They are taught simple early motor skills such as walking, sitting, and standing. Tummy time is also given during awake time. We play patty cake, sing nursing rhyme songs, play simple puzzles & games, and read to the children. Each child naps in his or her own playpen or crib. Our caregiver provides daily infant reports for each parent. These reports contain information on how & when they eat, the amount they ate, diaper reports, and general mood and health, as well as all activities they participate in. There is also a SIDS prevention nap check list reported daily that records the status of how each child is sleeping. Parents are asked to provide diapers, wipies, bottles, formula, playpen, and two full sets of extra clothes.
TODDLER CLASS: (Ages: 18 months - (early) 3 years old) We encourage and help with potty training during this stage. Parents are asked to bring diapers, wipies, training pants, and one full set of extra clothes. Children play, sing, dance, do puzzles, arts & crafts, and are read to every day. At this age, children learn how to sit together and work together as a group and how to work well with others. Centers are used daily to continue in developing their everyday skills.
KINDER CLASSES: K3/4: (Ages: (late) 3 years old - 4 years old) & K4/5 (Ages: 4 years old - 5 years old) Pre-school & Pre-Kinder children have an instructor in the morning and a caregiver in the afternoon. Our curriculum includes Language Arts (including but not limited to: alphabets & phonics), Mathematics, Music, Science, Social Studies, Arts & Crafts, Basic Concepts & Skills, Reading, and Bible. We do not emphasize or teach our religion; however, we do teach basic Christianity (Who is God? Who is Jesus? Christian songs). The curriculum is carefully planned out yearly utilizing Horizons. Each Friday, Take-Home folders that contain work the children did during the week are sent home with the children. They are returned empty Monday mornings (or the beginning of the week) so their work can be collected again and placed inside the folder. There is time allotted for snack (morning) and play time outside or inside (morning & afternoon) daily. Healthy dry snacks are provided by the instructor (morning only); however, parents are welcomed to bring snacks to give to the children. Afternoon activities are provided to continue learning developmental skills and social skills. Parents are asked to bring one full set of extra clothes. Our classroom has 7 centers (Reading, Listening, Arts & Crafts, Dramatic Play, Manipulative, Science, and Learning) which are utilized daily to teach the curriculum and guide afternoon activates. We will prepare with the skills necessary to perform well in the next level.
DAY SCHOOL PROGRAM: K5 - 8th Grade: (Ages: 5 years old - 13 years old) We are proud to offer affordable day school for parents wanting to have their children participate. Many times, parents teach their children themselves, while some are taught by others. Day school offers your child attention that is not offered in public schools and more in depth than private schools. Our director, Martha Ortega, has her Bachelor's and Master's degree in Education and has over 12 years experience in education. Her profound and impressive background draws parents to have her teach their children with the best of confidence knowing their child is getting the best education. Ms. Martha has proven to be a valuable asset in the educational realm by teaching a 6 year old child (Kindergarten entrance) to read at a third grade level and the ability to perform second grade mathematics.
AFTER SCHOOL CARE: (Ages: 5 years old - 13 years old) We offer transportation for after school children in neighboring areas. There is a weekly charge for these services, starting at $15.00 per child - per route (pick up and/or drop off). This price is in addition to the weekly day care fee. Children have their own instructor whom provides activities, help with homework, and other daily requirements.
